Is it just my host family, or does no one in Germany use napkins? Also, I am going to Prague with my school - who else will be going on any exciting field trips, and to where?

Yup! Mine niether...on the first night at dinner i had somethign on my face and asked for one. They went to their cupboard and brought out a pack of really festive ones then asked if we usually used napkins. There were napkins the next night at dinner, but i haven´t seen them since, except for tonight when i went to a graden party ...so maybe napkins are for social occasions?

Mine has the reusable cloth napkins, and I thought that they washed them after every meal, but learned in my two week stay in Istanbul that Germans do not wash the napkins which was a problem because I made mine really really dirty the first day and it went downhill from there. Now, I am trying to keep mine in Holzkirchen clean.

but really the whole eating everything with knife and fork is strange for me.. i mean. like.. yeah.
and then they looked at me like i was a pig when i couldnt use my fork in my left hand... ive since learned.. but sheesh its strange... eating with the fork in the left hand and hte knife in the right i mean... and using the knife ALWAYSS. even when a fork would sufice.
